We are often asked by potential customers why use an Aavelin for Digital Signage and Video Messaging when they can use a PC with Powerpoint that they already own. There are many key reasons why the Aavelin is a better fit. The Aavelin is designed specifically for Video Messaging and Digital Signage while Powerpoint is designed to be a live presentation tool.
Here are the key differences why the Aavelin is a better fit for these types of applications.
Scheduling: The Aavelin has built a built in scheduler. This feature allows for scheduled pages to play at specific times and on specific days. For example, a page can be set to run every day at 3:00 for the next 6 weeks. A page can also be set to run with more frequency - for example, every 2 minutes.
Reliability: The Aavelin is built upon a multi threaded multimedia operating system designed to run video 24/7. Windows is not.
Power Failures: If the Aavelin loses power for any reason, once the power is restored, the Aavelin will reboot and run the project it was running prior to the power failure without any human intervention. With a Windows based system, a power failure and power restoration will take you back to the desktop or an error screen.
Crawl lines: The Aavelin has the ability to display up to 4 smooth crawl lines simultaneously. Crawl lines allow the user to put more information on a single screen. Crawl lines can also be scheduled and lend themselves to sponsorship.
Built in networking. The Aavelin is IP addressable. It is easy to control and manage remotely. With Powerpoint and a PC, the user has to have physical access to the PC playing back the content. One or many Aavelin's can be managed remotely by a single or multiple users.
Video Quality: Powerpoint's video quality is acceptable for someone giving an oral presentation with visual aids, but not suitable for digital signage, where a polished finish is critical. Aavelin's superior video quality is especially evident on larger displays - both on static images, and particularly on moving text such as crawl lines and full-page motion such as page transitions.
Hardware: The Aavelin player is built with a heavy-duty rack mount case and is designed for commercial installation. The Aavelin hardware is standardized and heavily tested for compatibility and long-term stability. PC's will often will often vary from machine to machine making troubleshooting and problem identification more difficult.
Password Protection: Password protection is built into the Aavelin System. A password is required to publish or transfer content to the unit. This password is also encrypted providing an additional layer of security to your system.
Security: MagicBox has never had to issue a security patch or a virus alert for the Aavelin.
Free Training: Each Aavelin system comes with a Free training DVD designed to help the end user get up to speed quickly.
Video Pass Through: Aavelin has the ability to take an external video feed (cable TV, Live Camera, DVD) and pass that video through in a scalable window or full screen. Crawl lines can be maintained over top of the incoming video.
Multiple Options: Aavelin has several options that are often required by customers seeking a Digital Signage Solutions. Options include display of weather data, triggering and scheduling of VCR's, DVD',s and MPEG Players and interfacing to databases.
