Aavelin Software Release History

New features in Aavelin update releases

Version 2.88 - July '06

  • Crawl Scheduling: When adding or editing crawl content (via Project Properties ? see below), a Scheduling tab is now present for each individual item. Crawl content items can be scheduled using the same controls provided for page content.
  • Crawl Interface Revamp: The Overlay Region and Overlay Content tabs of Project Properties have been combined into a new Overlay Region tab.
  • Crawl Line Graphic Support: Graphics can now be used in crawl lines. Each crawl content item can be assigned a "pre" and "post" graphic, which will be displayed before and after the crawl message. Logo transparency rules apply.
  • Credit Roll (Professional Only): An "Insert Credit Roll" button has been added to the page editor. You can select a text file (.TXT) that will be scrolled vertically through the credit roll object. Positioning and sizing is handled as with other objects. Appearance and speed settings are available in the object properties window.
  • Page Filtering (Professional Only): The thumbnail view can now be filtered by page type for easier viewing. Click on "View" -> "Filters" and select the types of pages to be displayed.
  • Spell Check: Resolved an issue where spell check would not actually change the misspelled text it identified. Also corrected a spelling error in the spell check dialog. Oops!
  • Project Switch Feature: The publishing dialog now features a control to disable the project switch after publishing has finished. Disable switching if you do not want to switch to the new project after publishing (or restart the project, if publishing the same one with changes).
  • Saving: Users receiving an "access denied" message when saving a project will no longer see that, unless they are in fact lacking the necessary permissions.
  • 16x9 Page Editing: Page objects and their handles will no longer become detached when working in a page that required vertical or horizontal scrolling (generally high resolution widescreen projects).
  • Project Creation: Creating a new project is slightly different now. The default name of "New Aavelin Project" has been removed, and a project name must be specified before the project is created. Upon creation, all primary elements of the project are created (.AVP, project folder, etc). Previously, these elements were only created upon exiting the project for the first time. This resolved several issues relating to import/export.
  • Import/Export: Resolved an issue that would cause images or fonts to be corrupted upon being added to the .MBT file.
  • Import/Export: Removed unnecessary messages generated when exporting certain fonts within pages.
  • Page Copying: "Copy (1)" text no longer appended to page description when copying a page. The description of the copied page will now be identical to the original.
  • Ellipse Objects: Ellipses without outlines will no longer become rectangles.
  • Video Overlay: Video overlay pages will now default to a generic "No Device" device when first created, rather than the first available Adtec device.
  • Infra-Red Codeset Support: Added support for the following devices: Panasonic DVD F87 (5-disc changer), JVC XV-N320
  • Page Delete: Deleting a page will now result in the .JPG of that page being deleted from the project folder as well.
  • List View: Resolved issue with list view going black after being minimized. List view columns will now also retain their width settings.

Version 2.83 - December '05

  • Special Note to Adtec Owners: A new field has been added to the 'Site Properties' panel under 'Setup'. Select your Adtec device under the field 'Attached Adtec MPEG Player'
  • Recurring Events - The 'Events' tab of Page Properties has been removed and combined with the 'Time Domain' tab, and has been renamed 'Scheduling'.
  • Spell Check - Text objects and crawl regions now contain a spell check function. For text objects, right click on the object and go to Properties->Spell Check. For crawl regions, a 'Check Spelling' button is located directly above the text entry box.
  • Logging - Preliminary logging support is included in this release. Logging is performed on the playback system and is used to track the frequency and times that a spot or page plays on the system.
  • Region Override - You now have the option to disable specific regions for each page, rather than a global 'disable all' switch. Controls are located on the 'display settings' tab of Page Properties.
  • Logo Override - Project logo graphics can now be disabled on each page. Controls are located on the 'display settings' tab of Page Properties.
  • Image Handling - Cleaned up image handling behavior. Now, images will be brought in at their original size, with the aspect ratio locked. If the images width or height exceeds the page's width or height, the image will be brought in at 80% of the page's size. Adjustments can be made afterwards on the general tab of the image object property sheet.
  • Flash Files - MacroMedia Flash files will now be included when exporting and copying pages.
  • File Selection - For objects that require selecting a file (Image, Flash, Video Frame), you will be asked to select the file before positioning the object on the page. Pressing 'cancel' without selecting a file will result in the object being removed from the page.
  • Interface - Removed various options and controls that were permanently disabled. This will have no impact other than removing interface clutter.
  • Thumbnail View - The 'Show Normal Pages' and 'Show Event Pages' options in the 'View' menu will now behave as they should, with no hidden side effects.
  • Supported Resolutions - Resolved issue that would prevent widescreen projects from being published to an AV100 or AV200
  • Infra-Red Codeset Support - Added support for the following devices: Panasonic DVD F87 (5-disc changer), JVC XV-N320
  • Project Delete - Deleting a project will now result in the entire project being deleted, not just the image files.
  • E-Blast Support - Resolved issue that would not allow crawl lines sent from E-Blast to be shown at the bottom of the screen.
  • E-Blast Support - Crawl lines sent from E-Blast will now obey the vertical offset values set by the project.
  • Font Publishing - Crashes during publishing caused by the transfer of fonts have been eliminated.
